Lampeter Landscape Initiative.

Fragment taken from Medwin Hughes letter.

You will recall that I outlined my vision for an enhanced campus at Lampeter. I am now writing to invite you, as a past Lampeter student, to consider becoming a Burgess Ambassador through supporting our development programme. As you will know, the University intends to establish a scheme to reconfigure the campus to create a unique landscape which will be a historic statement for centuries to come.

We are seeking the support of 50 Ambassadors who will pledge f5,000 over a period of five or six years. Such a pledge could be made in either a one-off gift or in regular donations.

The Lampeter Landscape initiative will allow thousands of young people not simply to enjoy a quality university education, but also to experience college life at the very heart of the University. The development of a new landscaped campus will certainly make a difference to thousands of students as they matriculate at Lampeter. Taking action now to reconfigure the campus will have a significant influence,on the future of the University.

Recoming a Burgess Ambassador. will also help the University to secure its long term future. Higher education'is now globally cornpetitive in ways unknown when you were a student and, in today's difficult economic climate, Lampeter like other institutions is obliged to make more effective use of its facilities. An iconic landscaped campus will help the University to continue to attract the most able students and staff; It'would also allow Lampeter to celebrate its environment and attract non-teaching revenue through becoming a venue for international conferences outside term-time.
